What is an acceptable unsubscribe rate?




When first using an email marketing service, if you haven’t contacted your subscribers for an extended period of time, you will experience higher than normal unsubscribe rates. Thereafter there isn’t a defined number of unsubscribes you should get as unsubscribes can be influenced by a number of factors ie. Sending email campaigns too frequently, sending irrelevant email campaigns, sending uninteresting email campaigns. Once you have sent out a number of campaigns you will probably notice a pattern occurring in the number of subscribes (you will always get some). If this pattern suddenly changes, in other words, a large number of people unsubscribe, you should analyse the campaign to try and understand why a larger number of people chose to unsubscribe.
