Email marketing is predominantly used as a customer retention tool to generate more business from your existing customer database. For those that are starting from scratch and have no customer-base to work with, we would recommend the following steps:

Just make sure that any info and updates about the company in your monthly newsletter are interesting and relevant to ensure that your customers remain engaged. Sending short, sharp e-bulletins once a week displaying specials offers or deals that your company is offering is a good way to maintain customer interest.
